Three rather different geometrid moths in the trap over the last couple of days
This is a Serraphim – a local species which is on the wing in May and June. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of aspen and poplars
This is a Barred Umber – another local species which is on the wing from May to June. The caterpillars feed on hazel, birch and hawthorn.
This is a Scalloped Hazel – again on the wing in May and June. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of a wide variety of woody shrubs, trees and even some conifers.
