I brought a moth trap to Scilly this time – it hasn’t been a major success but it has attracted a few moths.
This is a feathered ranunculus sub species scillonea which is only found on Scilly – it feeds on thrift and sea plantain.
We went over to St Martins for the day and saw and olive backed pipit, an Ortolan bunting and 5 golden plovers
Back on St Mary’s the green heron was back on his rock
And a Mediterranean gull was briefly in the same bay
Finally we went to to the Bird Log and someone had brought in a dead little bunting which flown into the window of their house!
