A Barred Red

I found a Barred Red in my moth trap yesterday – I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before.

Its caterpillars feed on the needles of Scots Pine, Norway Spruce, Larch and Western Hemlock.

It is apparently common in areas where its food plant is also common.
