Only the specialists survive in these temperatures

It was very cold last night and despite of that there was still a moth in the trap. It is amazing in these sub zero temperatures that moths don’t freeze solid!

yellow-line-quakerThis is a yellow-line quaker – a rather old and worn individual. They are one the wing from September to the end of November and I guess they must be adapted to freezing temperatures – maybe they contain a type of anti freeze!
