The Rosy Footman

Another very attractive moth in the trap last night – the rosy footman.

Rosy footman
A local species in the south of England. The caterpillars feed on dog lichen and other lichens. Usually a woodland species but also in hedges with large tree – like my garden!

  1. One of these in our house in Loddiswell just North of Kingsbridge, evening of 7th August 2020. Notes on the web say it is attracted by light! Feeds on dog lichen, likes overgrown hedgerows trees and woodland (very much our garden).
