A bordered beauty

This morning I found a bordered beauty in my moth trap. I have never seen one before even though it is not uncommon.

The adult moths fly from July to September – it is normally a species of wet woodland but occasionally also lives in hedges and gardens. the caterpillars feed on willows, alder and hazel.
