St Mary’s – a couple a cracking moths

Saw a couple of cracking moths on St Mary’s yesterday.

Radford's Flame Shoulder
This is a Radford’s Flame Shoulder which someone brought to the bird log last night – it is a very rare immigrant moth – there have been less than 50 records in the UK. It is similar to the Flame Shoulder which is a common moth.

Hummingbird hawk moth
And this is a hummingbird hawk moth – this is the first one I have ever seen settled and not flying – this one was above a window on a house on the Strand in Hugh Town

Black redstart
There was also a lovely black redstart on Little Porth beach

Teal
And this teal was on the pool at Higher Moors
