Angles shades – impersonating a withered leaf

Angle shades is a common moth that is on the wing from May to October. It gets its common name from the distinctive patterning on the forewings.

Whilst sat on a stone Angle Shades may look rather obvious but place it on vegetation it suddenly blends into the background and becomes camouflaged – look again at it odd pointy wings – they look like a withered leaf – perfect
