Some pretty fabulous moths

A few photographs of some moths I have trapped over the past few weeks

Gold spot
This is a gold spot – larvae live in wet places and feed on sedges and other water plants – the adult is shiny and iridescent

The Herald
This is the Herald – a common species – the caterpillars feed on willow and aspen

Lesser swallow prominent
This is the lesser swallow prominent – another common species – caterpillars on birch
