St Mary’s harbour quay

There is a major £10m project underway on the quay in St Mary’s harbour on the Isles of Scilly. The quay is being widened and lengthened so it can take bigger boats and secure the Islands’ future – for more information see here. The work – weather permitting should be completed by the end of the year. All the buildings on the quay are also being renovated and a new restaurant is planned. The area is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and the work is being carried out by Keir. Here are a few pictures.

The huge floating crane rig

The new ‘end’ of the quay is now completed and just needs to be joined to the old one

The crane rig is mobile and can be moved around – here right inside the harbour – to avoid a storm? You can also see the new wider quay here as well.
