Last night was the first time I have run a moth trap in about 5 years!
I managed to trap a species I had never seen before – the Beautiful Hook Tip. A rather fascinating life cycle – the caterpillars feed on lichens which grow on trees – I guess that is why it is more common in the west than the east.
I always love seeing elephant hawk moths – here’s one feeding on clover
Been meaning to try a moth trap for while, Do you have a ‘proper’ moth trap, or do you use something home-made?
