On the south moor

We slotted in an additional 10 Tors training day yesterday – I was on the south moor with Pete Davies our Area Ranger in the Plym Valley. It was a classic day of check pointing.

TenTors1 Blue skies at Postbridge first thing in the morning.

TenTors2My first check point however was at Great Trowlesworthy Tor – here the Wild Tribe 55 milers are leaving to start on their ascent up to Shell Top (top right on the skyline) – both these Tors are on National Trust land

TenTors3Then around to Shipley Bridge – here is the Avon making its way south

TenTors4I was meeting a couple of teams at Petrie’s Pit – here I am on West White Barrow (Petrie’s Cross in the foreground) and Red Lake in the middle distance. I could see Pete Davies on top of Red Lake – it was as close as we got to each other yesterday!

TenTors5This is Petrie’s Pit – rather unassuming – both my teams missed it and had to be found and then re-directed back onto course! Everyone was back at the minibus at Venford Reservoir by 6.20 – a long day but some good miles put into everyone’s legs (including mine)!
