Last December I did a short post on the imminent demise of the cricket pavilion at Exeter Cricket Club. Yesterday the demolition works began.
The new pavilion will be built on the land where I stood to take this photo. The old pavilion will be replaced by student flats.
Is this good or bad? I can’t tell from your text whether you mourn the old pavilion or whether a new one will be a huge benefit to the club. Presumably the club made a tidy sum selling the land to Exeter University. Maybe it is a win-win arrangement.
I think it is sad that the old building has gone. The ground is owned by a family Trust who I guess have made some money but as you rightly say – the cricket club can carry on and will get a new modern pavilion.
