At some point during 2015 the old pavilion at Exeter Cricket Club will be demolished and replaced by a block of flats for students at Exeter University. The pavilion was built in 1902 and was opened by no less a cricketer than WG Grace.
The story is quite complicated but the pavilion is no longer really fit for purpose and has not been listed by English Heritage. A new more modern pavilion will be built near to the existing one and this along with the development of the flats will ensure that Exeter Cricket Club continues to flourish.
